Vintage Chinese carved cabinet with lattice panels
£995.00
Bring warmth and intricate detail to your home with this vintage Chinese wooden cabinet. Its tall, slender proportions, rich timber colouring and decorative latticework make it a distinctive storage piece for a living room, dining room or hallway.
Two upper cupboard doors feature carved openwork panels, framed by narrow diamond-pattern lattice sections. Beneath sit two drawers with metal ring pulls and a lower section decorated with bold geometric fretwork. A traditional sliding door latch, carved corner brackets and tall square legs complete the design.
Often described as a Chinese “chicken coop” kitchen cabinet, this piece follows a traditional furniture form. The timber is believed to be elm, although the species is unconfirmed. It is thought to date from the 20th century, possibly the latter half; the exact date and maker are unknown.
