Antique Victorian Edwardian Mahogany Overmantel Mirror – c.1900

A magnificent late Victorian / Edwardian overmantel mirror, dating approximately from c.1890–1910.

Impressive in both scale and craftsmanship, this substantial architectural mirror features a wonderfully rich mahogany-toned finish, traditional fielded panelling and an imposing central mirror.

The upper section is beautifully detailed with a substantial projecting cornice and traditional dentil moulding, creating the appearance of a piece originally designed for an impressive period interior. Deeply framed panels surround the mirror, while unusual shaped display shelves positioned on either side add another distinctive architectural feature.

The generously proportioned central mirror reflects a wonderful amount of light and gives the entire piece tremendous presence.

Originally intended to sit above a substantial fireplace or mantelpiece, it could equally be positioned above a sideboard or console table, or used independently as a dramatic architectural wall mirror.

A superb statement piece for a country house, period property, entrance hall, dining room or characterful contemporary interior.
