A beautiful late Victorian / Edwardian marble-top washstand, dating to approximately circa 1890–1910, combining wonderful period craftsmanship with an exceptionally decorative design.
The standout feature is undoubtedly the substantial natural marble top, complemented by an unusual matching oval marble splashback panel set within the raised timber back. The warm-toned timber, delicate decorative detailing and aged patina give this piece tremendous character.
Below the marble top are two useful drawers and a double-door cupboard, offering generous practical storage. Traditional dovetailed drawer construction, decorative metal fittings, turned front legs with castors and a side towel rail complete the design.
Originally created as a washstand, today this would make a fabulous bathroom vanity, hallway cabinet, kitchen piece, drinks cabinet or statement sideboard.
