A beautifully distinctive antique Edwardian / early 20th-century bureau writing desk, dating from approximately 1910–1930, combining elegant period craftsmanship with genuinely practical storage and workspace.
The defining feature is the superb geometric veneered fall front, with carefully arranged sections of richly figured timber forming a striking diamond design. The warm variations within the veneer give the bureau wonderful depth and make it particularly eye-catching when closed.
The fall front opens to create a generous writing surface, revealing a traditional fitted interior with multiple pigeonhole compartments and a small central drawer — ideal for stationery, correspondence and smaller personal items.
Beneath are three full-width graduated drawers, each displaying attractive figuring and fitted with traditional circular metal handles and individual keyholes.
Raised on shaped bracket feet, the bureau has relatively compact proportions while offering an impressive amount of storage. It would make an excellent writing desk for a home office, bedroom or living room, particularly where space does not allow for a conventional full-size desk.
