Antique Edwardian Arts & Crafts Oak Sideboard – c.1900–1920
A wonderfully distinctive antique Edwardian oak sideboard / cupboard, dating to approximately c.1900–1920, with strong Arts & Crafts and Gothic Revival influences.
Substantial, beautifully constructed and full of character, this impressive piece combines wonderfully warm aged oak with strong architectural detailing and exceptional practical storage.
The front features two generous upper drawers above a substantial double cupboard, creating a beautifully balanced and symmetrical design. The drawers are finished with traditional turned wooden knobs and attractive moulded detailing.
Below, the large cupboard doors feature beautifully framed and panelled oak, with one of the most striking elements being the unusual sculptural wooden central latch arrangement. This beautifully shaped detail gives the piece an unmistakably handcrafted quality and provides a fantastic focal point.
Opening the doors reveals a spacious interior with full-width shelving, providing excellent storage for tableware, glassware, linens, books or everyday household essentials.
The richly toned oak has developed a wonderfully established patina, with subtle variations, historic marks and natural wear adding to its relaxed and authentic English country-house appearance.
A superb statement piece that would work beautifully as a dining room sideboard, kitchen cupboard, drinks cabinet, hallway storage piece or substantial living room cabinet.
