A superb antique Arts & Crafts oak dressing chest with mirror, dating from approximately circa 1900, combining exceptional timber, practical storage and wonderfully distinctive period design.

The oak displays a beautiful rich colour with particularly striking grain and figuring across the drawer fronts, top and substantial mirror surround. Over more than a century, the timber has developed a wonderfully warm appearance and character that simply cannot be replicated in modern furniture.

The lower cabinet features three generously proportioned central drawers, flanked by two separate side cupboards, providing an excellent amount of practical storage. Simple wooden handles complement the restrained Arts & Crafts design and allow the beauty of the timber to remain the focus.

Above sits an impressive large framed mirror with a gently arched upper edge. Tall architectural uprights sit to either side, each incorporating an unusual elongated pierced detail that gives the piece a particularly distinctive silhouette.

The generous surface area beneath the mirror makes this ideal as a traditional bedroom dressing chest, while its substantial proportions and storage also allow it to work beautifully as a statement cabinet in a dressing room, hallway or characterful country interior.
