Pair of Antique 1930s Regency Revival Bergère Cane Armchairs

A magnificent matching pair of antique bergère library armchairs, dating approximately c.1920–1940, most likely from the 1920s–30s.

Designed in the elegant Regency Revival style, these generously proportioned chairs combine beautifully crafted exposed timber frames with traditional woven cane panels and impressive carved detailing.

The sweeping arms terminate in bold scrolls supported by turned and reeded uprights, while distinctive carved feet and low stretcher bases give the chairs a particularly handsome architectural quality.

Traditional woven cane extends along the sides of each chair, creating the classic open bergère appearance. Deep removable seat cushions and generously upholstered back cushions provide comfortable and inviting seating.

Currently upholstered in a warm yellow checked fabric, the pair have a wonderfully relaxed English country-house aesthetic and would make superb fireside chairs, library seating or statement armchairs within a characterful living space.
