Pair of Antique 1930s Bergère Cane Library Armchairs

A superb matching pair of antique bergère-style library armchairs, dating approximately c.1920–1940 and most likely from the 1930s.

Designed in the elegant Regency Revival style, these generously proportioned chairs combine beautifully shaped timber frames with traditional woven cane panels and decorative carved detailing.

Each chair features sweeping wooden arms terminating in carved scrolls, together with distinctive gadrooned feet and traditional brass castors. The exposed cane side panels give the pair their classic bergère appearance, while deep seat cushions and generously upholstered back cushions create comfortable and inviting seating.

Currently upholstered in a warm muted red patterned fabric, they have a wonderfully traditional country-house appearance and would look particularly impressive positioned beside a fireplace, within a library or study, or as statement chairs in a living room.
