A spectacular mid-century oak dining suite, comprising a substantial dining table accompanied by six matching dining chairs, dating approximately from the 1960s–1970s.

Bold, sculptural and beautifully constructed, the suite is strongly reminiscent of the celebrated French furniture designs of Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, whose work combined traditional craftsmanship and substantial natural materials with distinctive mid-century forms.

The table features a wonderfully substantial solid oak top, displaying exceptional natural grain and warm tonal variation. It is supported by chunky angled trestle-style legs connected by a heavy central stretcher with exposed pegged detailing, giving the piece a wonderfully architectural presence.

The six accompanying chairs are equally distinctive, with shaped solid oak seats, sculptural supports and unusual pierced central back splats. Their substantial construction and expressive oak grain complement the table beautifully.

The result is a wonderfully characterful dining suite that sits somewhere between French Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist and rustic modernist design.

Previously catalogued at auction as a “Guillerme et Chambron design oak dining suite.” In the absence of a confirmed manufacturer’s label or mark, we have described the suite as Guillerme et Chambron style rather than making a definitive attribution to Votre Maison.

Condition
