A beautifully refined Edwardian inlaid mahogany nursing chair, dating to circa 1905–1915.
Crafted with elegant, understated proportions, this early 20th century chair features delicate boxwood stringing, tapering square legs with spade feet, and charming carved shell inlay details to both the crest and centre rail. The low seat height and supportive upright back are characteristic of traditional nursing chairs, originally designed for comfort within the bedroom.
The frame carries a warm polished finish that enhances the fine inlay work and highlights the quality of craftsmanship. The seat is upholstered in a soft rose-toned fabric and remains firm and comfortable. It is perfectly usable as it stands, though it could easily be reupholstered in linen or a heritage stripe for a more contemporary scheme.
An elegant addition to a bedroom corner, dressing table setting, hallway, or refined sitting room.
Condition
Structurally solid and sturdy. The frame presents well with light, age-related wear consistent with over 100 years of use. Upholstery clean and serviceable.
