A wonderfully unusual antique Victorian pine tambour-front linen press / storage cabinet, dating from approximately 1880–1890.
Full of late 19th-century character, this striking piece is distinguished by its impressive wooden tambour roll-front, formed from closely spaced horizontal slats and providing access to a generous storage compartment within.
Below the tambour section sit two substantial drawers, each finished with large turned wooden handles and attractive moulded surrounds. The cabinet is topped with a deep moulded cornice, while the shaped detailing above the tambour and traditional plinth add further period character.
The beautifully aged pine has developed a wonderfully warm colour, with visible knots, grain patterns and historic markings throughout.
Its tall, relatively narrow proportions make this a particularly useful piece of antique furniture, providing considerable storage without requiring the floor space of a conventional double wardrobe.
Perfect for a bedroom, dressing room, hallway, country kitchen or characterful farmhouse interior.
