A wonderfully characterful late Victorian / early Edwardian three-drawer chest, dating from approximately 1890–1910, with beautifully figured timber and a rich, naturally aged finish.
The chest features three substantial full-width graduated drawers, providing generous practical storage while maintaining a relatively low and broad profile. The natural figuring across the drawer fronts is particularly attractive, giving the piece considerably more visual interest than a conventional chest of drawers.
Each drawer is finished with decorative metal bail handles and an individual escutcheon, while small castors beneath the chest provide another charming period detail.
The timber has developed a wonderfully warm colour and patina through generations of use. It appears to be figured ash or possibly elm, although without definitive provenance we prefer not to attribute the exact timber species with certainty.
Its simple proportions make this an exceptionally versatile antique. It would work beautifully as bedroom storage, within a dressing room or hallway, or even as a substantial side chest within a living space.

Condition
Presented in good antique condition with signs of age and previous use consistent with a piece dating from around the turn of the 20th century.
There are age-related marks, knocks, scratches, rubbing, variations in colour and other imperfections throughout. These are part of the chest’s history and contribute to its authentic antique character and individuality.
