A magnificent antique oak overmantel mirror dating to circa 1900, featuring impressive architectural proportions, beautifully figured timber and a wonderfully rich, warm antique patina.

Dating from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, this substantial mirror has a generous landscape-format mirror plate surrounded by a beautifully constructed oak frame. The projecting cornice, stepped mouldings and distinctive shaped supports give the piece a strong architectural presence without being overly ornate.

The oak displays particularly attractive natural grain and figuring throughout, enhanced by more than a century of age and use.

Originally designed as a fireplace overmantel, its impressive proportions also make it an excellent statement mirror above a large console table, sideboard or chest. Its restrained design allows it to work beautifully within traditional country houses, period properties and more contemporary interiors.
