A magnificent antique Edwardian oak glazed bookcase and display cabinet, dating from approximately 1900–1920 and retaining a plaque for The Globe Furnishing Co., Preston, Lancashire.

This is a particularly striking piece, combining richly figured dark oak with beautiful geometric leaded-glass doors and a substantial architectural cornice.

The two tall glazed doors feature an unusual stepped geometric design that gives the cabinet enormous decorative presence. Behind them is a generous arrangement of wooden shelving, offering plenty of space for books, ceramics, glassware, collectables or treasured possessions.

The upper section retains its The Globe Furnishing Co., Preston, Lancashire plaque, providing an interesting connection to the piece’s history and adding another distinctive detail.

The deep colour and wonderful figuring of the timber are particularly attractive, with over a century of use creating a beautifully aged surface and genuine antique character.
